Glowing red and green eyes.

OK... This gives me the willys. We are surrounded by woods and have been having problems with our chickens and even cats being killed. Our dogs will do out at night and go off, barking there heads off!! So this morning about 3:30 we decide to go out and look around. We scanned the edge off the woods,,, about 50 yards away. There were about 8 sets of greens eyes and maybe 6 sets of red eyes. all mingled in together. SO CREEPY!!! DH said the green were most likely deer?? Or maybe he said that to make me feel better. None of them moved. they just started disappearing one by one. Pitch black with maglights...... WTH??? Does anyone know anything about this??

If I were you i would do one thing and one thing only........GET A BIGGER FLASHLIGHT...

Depends on how tall they are as to what they are.

Chin high=Deer below the knee Red=bunnies and possums, green=cats & raccoons. In between=coyotes, dogs, foxes, bobcats, and whatever other critters you have where you are.

In a group like that this time of year I'd suspect deer. Depending on where you are, the deer herds will soon be breaking of so the does can go drop their fawns in privacy. It could have been something else, but that would be my guess. It is possible it was a mommy out with her babies, but I'm not sure what else would be in a group that big.

If i had pets being killed, i wouldn't want to go outside with just a flashlight(!). You're brave!

But, if you go to a hunting store, they have super duper flashlights that can shine very bright for like a hundred feet, or more. i got one of those. We only have half an acre, but it's cool to be able to see what's skulking around the backside of our property.

Hope those were friendly eyes out there.

Tonight we are going to go out with brighter lights and a shotgun! All this killing has got to end. We take so much pride in having and taking care of our animals, failed to protect them and just feel so horrible...

from my experience the female deer has green eyes and the male have red eyes, but like one of the other post it depends on how high off the ground they were
