Gnats and baby chicks..

I think I figured it out why when my chickens are out, the gnats leave the babies alone. Apparently, they go to the highest point?? The chics are too close to the ground. Does that make sense? I noticed the other day when the gnats were swarming around the adults that the babies seemed to not be bothered by them. Anyone know this for sure?

i figured that the chickens would have a ball pecking the air for tiny gnats,............ lol
