Go to Bed Chickies!

We have seriously long daylight hours where I live, and they are only getting longer. I love our beautiful summer evenings but it's creating a problem! Our chickens do to! Yesterday we tried to bribe them into their coop with scraps of a hot dog bun but only about half of them were coaxed to go inside, and of course as soon as the door was opened to beckon some more in, at least one would dash out. That was around nine. An hour later, I tried again, but they were still super reluctant. (Did I hear some human cackling at me?) I hate to keep them in the pen because its all pecked clean by now.

There is gold in the mouth of the morning!

Hey, I guess it looks like I'm talking to myself but we found a solution to that problem that actually seems to work--most of the time. Usually the chickens are pretty near the door by the time we think we want to turn in for the night and Hubby coaxes them to go in mostly by talking to them. By the way I am so excited. But the end of this month or a little later we should have our own broody hens! I always think it is so much fun watching a mama bird care for her chicks!
