We switched our goats feed because the other feed wasn't very good quality. The feed we got has R-20 in it. The label says it's toxic to donkey's. Anyways my question is do i need R-20 in my feed or not and why?

Thanks for any info you can give me.

It's rumesin, and yes it's toxic to equids.

We prefer to feed medicated feed to our goats to keep our cocci loads down. However, we do not have goats and equids in mixed company, so no danger of toxic intake there.

I was thinking it was decoquinate...I guess they both do about the same thing just go about it with different means...Incidentally do you have a preferrence between monensin and decox or for that matter amprolium or sulfadimethoxine......I use Show Master with decox...guess I've never tried anything else...

is the feed from purina mills?

Not it comes from a local grain store. The med in it is monensin. It says it's toxic to equids and we have a mini donkey with our goats. I guess i'll just have to keep them seperate at feeding time.

Thanks Natalie
