I need help with what's wrong with this poor little guy - he was disbudded at least 3 weeks ago, I've had him for almost 2 weeks - he's 9 weeks now. Is this normal it almost looks like the hard part of the horn has fallen off - the other side looks like it is about to erupt also. Please let me know how I should treat- or if this is an emergency! Thanks!!!

I also posted on backyard herds...

no treatment needed, thats pretty normal. He looks like he may grow scurs though, might need birned again if there is a nub under there. May be too late though. If its flat under there, it probably just got rubbed off a little early and no problem anyway.

Looks to me like the disbudding needs to be repeated ASAP. Looks like he is growing scurs.

Thanks so much. I feel better - it doesn't seem to bother him at all. Should I put something on it or just let it heal? All I have now is iodine...
p.s. he hasn't been vaccinated - the guy I got him from said he doesn't vaccinate - I'm going to have this done asap - any suggestions on necessary vaccinations?

CD and T asap, any open wound risks tetanus.

No need to put anything on it. If you reburn it will stop bleeding too.

When we dehorned out cattle we sprayed a decoagulant powder on them.

Pretty normal for a disbudded goat. The scab rubs off and there will be a bit of blood. Now, if it were running blood you could reburn it or put some blood stop on it. But really normal for a disbudding.

I would worry about flies.I use "SWAT" (its a cream) , when we castrate goats. You should be able to find it any co-op or feed store.
