I have been in college now for a year. I had not done any schooling in 20 years. Is anybody else going back to school? I most definitely like school more now than I did when I was a kid. I find it easier, I guess it helps to have the life experience. I am currently attending community college and I plan to transfer to a four year university. I am going to school to become a social worker.

I will be going back to school at a community college then maybe to a university. Not sure what I will be taking, I am most interested in languages. I hope I have a good experience because in school, there were some teachers that had issues with me and were nasty/mentally abusive so I'm hoping to have a more positive experience because I do love learning.

Ill be going back to school in August, but I've only been out of school for a year and a half. I finished four years of college and now I will be starting vet school. I can't wait to go back! This real life stuff was too hard! Lol!

That is wonderful that you will be going to vet school. My oldest daugther who is 14 plans to go to vet school as well. She will starting early college high school in August, so I am super excited that she will complete two years of college while attending high school. What school will you be attending?

That's sounds great that she can do high school and college at the same time! I wish that was available when I was going to school!

I'm going to Cornell. Im really looking forward to starting! I'm going to check out apartments this weekend. I haven't been there since the winter!

Congratulations! That is a really good school. My daughter wants to attend NC State. Also, I'm from NJ, what part are you in? I have only lived in NC for a few years.

I'm from warren county in a little town called hope. You may have heard of the land of make believe. I'm always surprised to hear how many people have heard of that place!

How do you like NC? I would love to get out of NJ permanently but I'm not sure where I would ultimately like to settle.

I've heard of Hope, but I've never been there. I love living in NC! I was stationed here when I was in the Air Force, so my husband and I decided to move our family back here. We loved it so much. Just had to get out of NJ, we were living just a few towns away from Camden. I didn't want that kind of life for my kids, plus we just didn't fit in there. Country living is definitely better!

I finished my AS degree last may and have trouble finding a job with it. but I blame myself in part because I want a job within 20-30 miles from where I live many are 50+ miles away. Jr colleges have some real losers as high school/middles schools have, had a public speaking instructor whom didn't care about teaching because "I'm an adjunct and that just means this is my part time job...." unfortunately the school I went to was very bad about consistently using SUMA's (they are forms students use to grade how you think the instructor is doing). It seemed the only time they used them is if they felt the instructors where doing such a good job they wouldn't need to do any follow up on them or they had to fire or discipline so many they knew they had to see if they had more deadwood in their midst. It took me several years because I changed majors and took a few classes I was interested in and just a few classes a semester (usually 2 classes) and not taking summer courses.

Sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience. The school that I am attending is great. They are very proactive in getting the evaluations done each semester on all the instructors. I currently have a 3.7 GPA and I was just inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. I just registered for my summer and fall semester classes.
