Im going on vacation in two weeks and Im very nervous that somthing is going to come and kill all my birds while we are away! I have not had a predator prob in the 4ish months that I have had birds but I am worried that because there will be no activity at the house except someone coming to feed and get eggs onece a day that something is gonna get brave and come sniffing around.

What are some things that I can do to discourage predators?

I am thinking about getting a radio for out there and playing that for some noise. I also thought about (this is gonna sound kinda weird) taking my large male dog to pee around the coop and fence so that the smell is there. Is that pointless to do? We have two dogs that are outside all the time but away from the birds and I think that the noise and smells of them help keep stuff away and thats why I have been so lucky.

Any other ideas of what I can do though? Thanks

aall of that sounds like a good sound plan and should work. key word is should... if you've been heavily scoped out already it may not matter, but if you were, you would've noticed.

Radio n Dog Pee..... me thinks it'll hold you for a bit

I'm just trying to be funny. When I read the title, the first thing that popped in my head was...Take the preditors with you! I'm sorry that isn't any help though.

I have had NO predator probs like I said. The last wild animal i saw here was a baby possom that chewed through under the house and ended up under the kitchen sink, and that was this past winter. I am also going to go and get a light to put outside the coop.
