Is there any reason why my 3 1/2 week old bantam chicks cannot stay outside most of the day if the temperatures are in the upper 70's, their run is fully enclosed, predator proof, and they will have access to sun, shade, food, and water? They are so happy when we take them out for about an hour or so and let them play in their run. I am planning on bringing them in late afternoon before it begins to cool off...

I think they will be fine, but they still seem so small in that big run!

Thanks!

Will they have access to "the warmth" some how? I would say go ahead. 70s and sunny is alright by me. just make sure that they most certainly have a place or two to get out of the wind and huddle together.

My chicks are LF, but I let them stay outside during the day. (I think they are 2-4 weeks in age). Their dust bath area is in full sun, so I often seem them sprawled out in the sand. I propped up a piece of tin outside the fence to provide some extra wind buffer. They LOVE it... and they sleep great at night!
