Gold Brabanter's egg in membrane outside of her! Please help!!!

Thanks so much. I hope it eases her discomfort! Your well wishes are much appreciated too. I'm so saddened. He was the sweetest roo. I'd pick him up and hold him for long periods of time and he loved it!

her tail is droopy, and she hasn't laid another egg though I felt a big one in there last night when I was massaging (or at least trying) her. She has watery poop and still drips clear fluid, though there is no blood anymore. Still a bit swollen. I'm going to try to research egg-bound stuff. Her eggs are hard-shelled, she just can't get them out properly. does that still mean she needs more calcium? ACk! My internet keeps coming and going today too, so I'm going to try and find out as much as I can while I can!
Thanks for all your sweet thoughts.

Oh yeah! Fishermom! I'm sorry, I didn't look at your name till after I posted! I know who you are...

My best layer had a similar problem earlier this year. I gave her the warm water rinse just around her vent, put preparation H on a glove, applied it, and gently pushed her tissue back inside of her. Not a pleasant thing to have to do, but after keeping her in the cage a few days with Prep H applied daily, she was healed and fine. I wish you luck!

She laid her second egg! It was a little bloody, but she did manage after I put a bunch of olive oil in her vent. Today she's feeling much spunkier, so I've let her outside to frolic with the other chickens. Her tail is no longer droopy and there's no more swelling. I'm so happy though I miss my dear roo!

Good job taking care of your girl! You did well, acting calmly to minimize any damage to her membranes while removing the egg, and treating her afterward.
I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of your rooster. Even worse that he was a special one to you.
