Gold detecting.

I am from Australia, breed ducks and have a block of land near the Victorian Goldfields. I love heading up there for a weekend, and often take my ducks for a drive, and sometimes even take Monty one of my ducks out detecting with me. Just wondering if their are any poultry keeping gold seekers out the in America??????

I have only ever found one decent piece- A 9 gram nugget that was under a few nails. Obviously why so many others may have missed it. BUt I have only been detecting for a year or so, and still feel I have a lot to learn.

my hubby is a gold miner and has detecting equipment. He travels all over the world with his equipment.

But I am the animal raiser/breeder in our family. We enjoy gold panning as well.

Well- its still in the family

I have just been so interested in the Australian goldrush era starting in the 1850's since buying my block of land. Sometimes I go out to do some detecting- and just drive or walk around so long without even getting the detector out of the car ( no wonder I havent found much!!!!! ) The bush and surounding small towns - even the cemetaries up there are so interesting. My 14 year old daughter doesnt like to come out detecting too often, but loves exploring the hills when she does come out with me.
I would love to see other areas of the world- but there is so much to explore right here in Victoria-

Hello there, I was the Vermont Director for the GPAA for 7 years, am currently President of thr GMOV Green Mountain Prospectors of Vermont. We have 515 members on paper. 40-60 that actually are actiuve. We do some metal detection but mostly dr3edging highbanking and sluicing. Power equipment we head to New Hampshire or Maine. Vermont is "different" let's say. They shun science, and have more of a "follow him" attitude. True sheep in the legislature, not all but most. Australia is on my wife and I's most wanted to visit list, but it won't be for a while. We have 6 Orpingtons, 5 hens and a roo. You'll wanna do a lot more detecting and save what you find, especially if the "system" collapses as predicted. Welcome!

I'm a lifetime member of GPAA, Treasure Seekers Of San Diego County, and Southwestern Prospectors and Miners Association.

I just got back two days ago from a three day weekend out at my Friendly Fox claim near Yuma, AZ.

I mainly use drywasher methods but sometimes do straight creek panning in the river nearby.
Also, some weekends I go detecting at the local beaches. We are currently getting hit by a "big storm" here in San Deigo so this weekend I'll be out at the beach looking for the treasures churned up by the waves.

I knew there would have to be some more poultry and gold enthusiasts out there. I just had two weeks off work- and if it wasnt for the incubator churning out new ducklings- I would have spent more time up in the hills.

I havent really found anywhere good for panning, as it has been so dry for a long time. But wouldnt mind speaking to a few locals who dont mind sharing secrets. Although I know they will be hard to find.

I am hoping to head up for a night this weekend. With 12 ducklings and a few adults along for the ride.

I'd love to do some treasure hunting. My mother has a cheap detector that we had at the beach on the east coast this summer. Lots of storms and replenishing going on. Good time to hunt.

I have never taken mine down to a local beach yet. I will have to try it one day, as I have heard that some odd things have been found.

I guess the best thing about a beach is the digging could be a bit easier. I have spent an hour digging in rock hard clay to find an old rusty nail. Good way to get some excercise- but not very rewarding in the end.

My daughters friend is joining us for the trip to the block of land this weekend- Our first sleep over visitor- and A good excuse to go exploring some new areas I think. Or even find somewhere to take her panning. I hope this city bred teenager doesnt mind the walk to the outside loo, or the bush animals at night !!
