As the title says, I have a gold laced Cochin rooster and silver duckwing Phoenix hens, and want to know what the offspring from these might look like, and if there’s any inherent problems to be worried about, since they’re about as opposite as you can get. I wanted to hatch some eggs this year, and was wondering about this pairing since it’s so odd.

Sexlinks. Some weakly laced yellow laced males and weakly laced gold laced females. Feathered legs, intermediate tails.
Of course there’s no inherent problems. Unless there are problems in the genetics of the parents, it doesn’t matter what two birds you breed together, there will not be inherent problems. Of course no one can know the whole genetic background of the parents. But that is ok.

I know that sometimes there are concerns with certain combinations, for instance if you breed a bantam to a production type chicken, if you end up with a small bodied hen that lays large eggs it can be a problem. I didn’t think there would be anything to worry about, but I wanted to make sure. So would they be just kind of regular sized chickens?

Well, I don't know if the Cochins are bantams or not, but it would be an intermediate size.
Fortunately, small hens will only lay eggs a size that is good for them, not eggs the size of a production chicken. (In honesty, these hens will probably be healthier than their mothers since she will lack the reproduction issues caused by overproduction.)
