I hatched out some Campines April 2012, 3 roos and 8-9 hens. While in the brooder, over a 2 week period, I found 4 dead and they appeared to have been trampled to death by the others. Now this morning, 12/30/2012, I found another hen dead in the corner of the coop, apparently smothered by the other juvenile birds in the coop. Is this a characteristic of these "flighty" birds or just having bad luck?? Have hatched and raised multiple batchs of chicks in close quarters and have never had this problem before!

Do they have enough room?? If they don't have enough room to do as they please, then its common finding chicks trampled to death. :welcome
