So I woke up this morning and when I released my small flock, my golden comet (or ISA brown) hen went straight to her nest box. I thought maybe she was going to lay. Two hours later, she’s sitting all the way down like a setting hen.
Now this is the first time I’ve kept non-Asian chickens. All the Asian game hens I’ve ever had have always been broody. From my research, my Orpingtons SHOULD go broody eventually but these red sex-linked hens have basically been bred for high egg production and thus, no broodiness. My question is, will she see it through and if she does, will she be a good mother?
