Golden Comet, will I have to clip their wings?

I am beginning to think that my chicks are Golden Comets instead of Buff Orpingtons like I wanted. All is good though because as I read up about Golden Comets they seem to be friendly.
What I am wondering is will I need to clip their wings when I let them into the garden or are they to heavy to fly like the Orpingtons? I worry because our neighbors have not such nice dogs and I don't want my girls to get hurt.

My golden comets can fly. They are very easy going birds very friendly.

In my experience, there is no such thing as a hen that is "too heavy to fly." I have a 12 pound rooster that will fly over a 4' fence with ease.

Golden Comets (which is the same thing as a Red Sex Link, so if you see RSL here in the forums, they're talking about birds similar to yours) are a lighter breed bird than an Orpington, and will fly if they feel like it.

Since you have nasty dogs in the neighborhood and need your hens to stay put, I'd clip the wings of all your birds.

Oh, and I love my RSLs. They are the friendliest birds I've ever had. If it's any consolation, I like them MUCH better than the hatchery Buff Orpingtons I've had. Those Orps were unpleasant birds that didn't lay well.

Can’t we just clip one of the wings so they’re uneven? I thought this was a thing. I just got more golden comets after my dogs decided to try to play with them and killed my flock of 5.
Please let me know if I need to clip both sides or if one will do. Thank in advance
