Golden Cuckoo Maran and Sex Links

We have a purebreed GCM rooster and a mix of red and black sex link hens. My son wants to hatch chicks. Would you be able to determine gender by color with this combo?

No, Maran’s do not carry an auto-sexting gene and the sex-links are a crossbreed not actually a breed. What you will pick up is his pattern and coloring. You did well choosing though because it carries the red and black gene as your sex-links do. So, your beautiful choice will create some beautiful chickens but you will have to wait for gender.

I love them. I have silver Birchen Marans because I have a thing for the blue gene! Lol all of them are beautiful!
