I know these are not recognized yet, but I was wondering what color they are supposed to be? I have a rooster that is very pretty, a little light maybe, but pretty nonetheless. His saddle (?) feathers are a kind of blond though?? And I have seen pics of other GL that had black saddle feathers. So I'm not sure what they are supposed to have. I have 3 or 4 other young cockerels that look like they are getting the black saddle feathers, or at least more black than this guy has, so I could keep one of them instead if need be. The roo is from a different seller than the cockerels and pullets are, so I was wanting to keep my roo for diversity.

When I had mine - he had black saddle feathers. He was absolutely beautiful but kind of a jerk. So he got rehomed then promptly ate by a fox

Your right - I went and dug up a picture of my guy - his saddle feathers were blonde not black. The pullet had a lot more black and I just sold what was their only child. She was just like her mama and had too much black.

How are the temperments on yours shelley? Mine were very stand offish.

The roo I used to have:

Your roo looks almost identical to mine.

The adult roo I have is not too bad, when he first started trying to claim his place in the flock he tried fighting me, that didn't last long. The younger ones are very skittish, the only time I see them (free rangers) is when they come to the barn to roost, or sometimes they'll be around when I go out to feed in the mornings.

I have 2 pullets, one of them doesn't look too bad, but the other one has way too much black in her. If she had white spots she could be a mille fleur, she has that much black!! At least one of my cockerels is very dark gold color on his body, I might keep him and see how his saddle feathers turn out. The adult roo I have now has blond saddle feathers but the rest of him is very light colored.

I really like the white and golden chickens you have there. Do you know of anywhere I can buy them?
