yes i googled it, but the problem is most sites were saying 5-8 years. I bought a pair probably 7 years ago, i don't remember the exact details but i think the male was 2 or 3 yrs already, (he had adult plumage) and the breeder wasn't sure about the female. They're gorgous birds and my only pair of pheasants so they're kind of pets and fairly friendly, i can pet the male if he's in a good mood. The thing is that they don't seem to be getting older, this year the hen laid eggs for the first time in a few years and i let her sit just for kicks, i figured she was too old to hatch (she also laid them in a mud puddle, they were literally submerged in water for about a week before she started sitting on them) turns out they're still fertile cause i got a baby... What have people found to be the lifespan of goldens, mine just don't seem to be slowing down, the male still molts and regrows beautiful feathers, they're still extremely agile and active, they have a good life but i've never coddled them. I almost don't want to post this cause i feel like somethings going to happen, but they seem strong and healthy. could the 5-8 year avg be a wild lifespan?

It is hard to say the life span of any bird as predators or disease could take them at any time.A natural life span holds the same.I know a guy that had a silver male for 22 years and another guy that had a reeves male for 21 years. You just have to wait and see.Enjoy them all the time.

I have a golden male and amherst male that are probably seven or eight years old. Lots of fertile eggs from them. They are always displaying to the hens!

Hi to all, I don't have an answer to the lifespan question. Would like to pose a question though....when the Goldens molt, do they lose the tail feathers? If so, is there any possibility of getting a couple of them from someone? I would like like afew for tying flies for fishing!! Thanks,
Anne
