gonzo beak chick

I use a dremel tool on my dogs' nails and just take off a little at a time- would it be worth trying that? I would think if you were to just file a little at a time it would be less traumatic?

or maybe those pedi paws things they advertise on t.v.? it grinds the nails back gradually - maybe that would be better for her beak?

i have no experience; i'm just asking.

I would think clipping would be less traumatci. I have had to clip - used dog nail clippers. One quick snip and it was over. The tools make noise and I think that would be scary.

I'm sorry but I just actually laughed out loud when I read the title...then saw the chick.

To keep it trimmed, you can use a nail file and "file" it down gently just to keep the sharp curve out of the way.

I'm back from the vet and the news isn't good.

The problem wasn't overgrowth of the top beak but undergrowth of the bottom one. She hasn't been able to eat well and is so light compared to the other chicks!

They recommended to try syringe feeding and that's not easy! Any tips? All the youtube stuff was parakeets and other birds that expect food to come regurgitated so they take to the syringe well.

I did manage to get some mash (ground up chick starter and water) into her and she's perked up. I can't do this long term though.
