Out of 205 Bob White eggs 14 candles infertile and 14 did not develop past final candle check when moved to lockdown. I think I did everything possible to hurt my hatch...they started in my sportsman and were moved to my hatcher (gqf 1550) after being a day late as I didn't want to mess up the other eggs with the increased humidity. Later the same day I put half the eggs in a carton figuring it would be a good test. A few had already hatched prior to that move And some were already pipped. Nearly all That were moved to the cartons hatched. The ones not in the cartons hatched sooner by about 6-10 hours. I had no straddles out of the carton hatch.

Totals - 205 original eggs
187 to lockdown
140 hatched
5 culled
3 weak and being treated

Given all that could have gone wrong I'm happy with results. Eggs from Meadows Quail Farm.

That's an awesome result. I hear bobs are more difficult than coturnix, so double congrats. I just finished my first hatch of coturnix with 70 hatched out of 100 set, one cull and no other losses so far. Got my eggs from topisawcreekquailfarm.com.

Good luck with your chicks.

UPRIGHT HATCHING MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD....

I will have a count later today of how many hatched upright versus laying down, but its pretty amazing how many hatched upright after being moved and then finally set upright. Also that none of those chicks had straddle is pretty telling.

I had then in a regular egg carton and used gqf absorbant paper under them, its like textured cardboard. They climb out of the eggs so they have their legs under them.
