Hi everyone!

I don't plan to do a lot of egg-hatching (keyword being PLAN, lol... we all know how that can go though!

) but I'm thinking about buying an incubator.

I want one as foolproof as possible. I don't want to have to worry about temperature, humidity, egg-turning, none of that. I want it to be like a microwave... put in the eggs, key in a few buttons, and in 21 days, they're "done" (or as close to it as I can get, lol.)

I love this incubator: http://www.randallburkey.com/NEW-BRINSEA-R-COM-MINI-3-EGG-INCUBATOR/productinfo/10401/ but OMG $160 for something that only hatches three eggs at a time?

Then there's this one: http://www.randallburkey.com/R-COM-20-DIGITAL-INCUBATOR/productinfo/10400/ but seriously... $500?? FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR THAT???

But yet I'm afraid to get one that needs things like wafers and wet bulbs and buckets of water and etc, and etc, and etc. I really don't want it to be difficult (microwave, remember?

) but I also don't want to only be able to hatch three eggs OR pay through the nose! Help!

The Brinsea Octogon 20 Avanced with humidity pump is pretty set and forget, but you will be approaching the $500 of the R-com that you have listed.

I'm a newbie myself to hatching. I just hatched out chicks, 100% of my hatch made it. I then proceeded on to my quail, all but two made it, out of 30. I have the hovabator 1588 and I have to say it was pretty darn fool proof. You do have to check your humidity from time to time and watch your water, but it was easy!

Mine came as a kit, along with the quail eggs.

I was looking at the Hovabator Genesis 1588 until I came across the Brinsea ECO 20 with autoturn cradle. I've hatched out two batches of turkey eggs in the Brinsea and find it to be just about foolproof. Plus, it's durable, is smaller than the 1588 and a breeze to clean. I do have to add water every few days but that's pretty easy.

Had it not been for finding the Brinsea (and on sale at that) I'd have gone with the Hovabator 1588. I think both have great features.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

We got the Brinsea w/turner from Double r supply for $260 or so.We should've got the digital one for $300something instead. To upgrade just the top to digital from Brinsea is $249..The temp was steady the whole time and I use'd a humidity gauges from Petsmart's reptile sect. Worth the $$ for sure, just shop around as much as you can. Here's info from their site. The price is net ,then shipping and 3 is your total.

The Genesis and the octo 20 eco are very similar in terms of reliability and usability, The octo is built much better but only holds half as many eggs. The price is similar with turner around $200

I have the genesis and the Octo 20 advance

The genesis stays on temp. the octo 20 adv stays on temp, but it has built in humidity and temp readouts. This saves lots of time and money spent on wonky thermometers and trying to take readings, plus you can upgrade to the humidity pump later if you like(only works with this model).

If you look around you can find prices a bit lower than those listed in the thread, I think I got my Octo 20 advance for $352 including shipping.

I just bought this one... I have my first batch of eggs in it due to hatch on the 29th..... It is digital and the water goes in with a pump, so you don't have to open the lid unless you are candling the eggs. If the temp and humidity are true to the guage... and the eggs hatch on the 29th... I will say it is fantastic. Time will tell.... : )

It is a bit spendy....

I have the Brinsea 3 egg incubator, and it's superb! My flock is small, so I don't need to hatch so many eggs at one time. Auto humidity, egg turning which stops 3 days prior to hatching, auto temp, so I strongly recommend it!
