Good Morning everyone!

I just signed up for this forum, though I have been reading it awhile. I live in Fair Oaks, California. In our "Old Town Village" of Fair Oaks the chickens run around free, and it is even a tourist attraction. It's only a few blocks from where I live and I fell in love with the chickens and often visited them. So, that is what got me interested. Yesterday I picked up my babies. I have a Buff Orpington, 2 Ameraucanas, 1 Black Australorp, and a Dominique.

I've been reading like crazy to try and make sure I do everything right!! The brooder I have right now should work for a week or two, but I am reading about how fast they grow and in a few weeks I am going to have a challenge!!

I just wanted to write and introduce myself. It's so good to be here. this forum has already been invaluable to me!

In planning for your new additions make sure you read up on Chicken Math because these little fuzzy butts are addictive!

Thank you for the welcome!! I forgot to mention that this all stated with an egg I found next to a friends tire three weeks ago. I got an incubator, and the egg was late to hatch, so all my planning didn't go to waste. I got my babies yesterday, but guess what? I left the egg in the incubator, just in case, and an hour ago I noticed it was piping!! I cannot believe it!! EEEK!! Hope this works out ok...nervous.

Waiting to see what comes out of the egg! You will have to post some pictures!

I have no idea what it will be. It is a mystery egg! There was a beautiful Polish hanging around that area, but who knows. Just hopin for a healthy baby, and yes if it all turns out ok--I will post pics!!
