Hi Everyone,
I am a new chicken owner. Our chickies are 12 days old now and we got them as 1-2 day olds from our local farmers co op. We have 2 rhode island reds and 2 barred rocks. It has been so much fun!!
We have an acre of land and our local ordinances state we can have up to 45 chickens on our property. (Waaaayy too many for me) They are pretty relaxed here.
My hubby is building a chicken tractor and says making one more would be no big deal. SOOooo we are thinking of getting a few more chicks. We are interested in the easter eggers since we have 3 young kids; aged 9yo, 7yo and almost 2yo. I also like the bantams, mostly because they are cute and because the smaller eggs are perfect snack size for my youngest (who loves a hard boiled egg, although he prefers the whites).
Do you think we should stick with the 4 chicks we have or get more?
I am excited to meet other chicken lovers...
