10 weeks ago I had an empty garden bed on my property. A few days later my first order of 25 new chicks arrived, a mixed lot of R.I. Reds, Barred Rock, White Legs, and something else I don't know for sure of, pullets and cockerels. 2 Weeks ago, I had a brand new chicken house and run where my empty garden bed used to be and I was very happy. Last week I brought home my new 20 chicks that I had just purchased (White Legs, Red and Gold Sexlink, all hens) and I was extremely happy. This past weekend my wife decided that she needed some pets that would never be destined for the freezer so two day ago I housed our 8 new bantam chicks with the newest chicks. Talk about zero to sixty in a short time. Now I am ecstatic!

My wife, my two children and I are truly enjoying this new path in our lives. It's just plain good fun and very interesting learning all about them and what has to be done to have happy healthy chickens. I have been a constant lurker on this site since just prior to receiving the first batch and I am now so glad to have found this community. Thank you to all who have already posted so much helpful information that I have put to good use. It seems like I think about chickens in my sleep these days.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Congratulations on all those chicks it seems the chicken math has already taken you over. Flicks can grow without you really realising. Raising chickens with children helping is so much fun as they learn how to care for them.

Wishing you the very best of luck with your new adventure, be sure to ask any questions that you may have everyone here to help and very friendly.
Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow
