I live in a city, the closest real feed store is 45 minutes away and they don't carry game bird anything.
I have used turkey starter (25%) but wonder if there are any online feed stores that have reasonable shipping...?
Or if anyone knows where to egt game bird decicated foods within walking diatnce" of the Bay Area (California)
Thanks

Go to www.purinamills.com and type in your zip to find your nearest Purina mills dealers. Call and ask the first one if they carry or can order GBS. If the 2 answers are NO, then move on down the list.

It can be work, but once you find a good feed store, then you can concentrate on your cats.

I find it very strange that a metro/city feed store has turkey starter, and no game bird starter. I would probably be hard pressed to find turkey feed, but can get game bird feed. I just don't know what to think.

On a side note: 25% protein Turkey starter is an adequate substitution for Game Bird Starter.

Most of the Turkey Starter is listed as also for game birds and ducks. That is what I can get at my local Big R.

Thanks for your suggestions!
The turkey starter is not from an inner city feed store btw!
It is from a semi-rural store about 45 minutes outside the metropolitain area.
I have to drive there for my rabbit food, alfalfa, straw and everything else...but they don't have much in the way of game bird feed.
If the local pet store carried turkey stuff I wouldn't be surprised though--chickens and turkeys are all the rage here...
I am ione of the few urban farm types who has opted for quail...

Hi,

I'm on the peninsula and just drove 50 mins to Concord Feed in Pleasant Hill on Sunday. they have Purina Gamebird Startena (only place i could find it) and the other Gamebird maintenance. only 50# bags though. I just got 30 eggs from a guy in Danville and he said he buys his feed from Alamo Hay and Grain. I called them too, but they were out of startena and I really needed it as I hatched four coturnix 2 weeks ago and they finished up the 1# bag of starter I bought on ebay yesterday. Looks like you are in better shape than me as my closest place was Half Moon Bay (no starter there though), so over the bridge we came. Hopefully this 50# bag will last me a while!
