Stopped by a farmers stand today and bought a bag of apples. One dollar. Just doing my part to boost the economy. Thanks for the applause.
Got home and offered one to each of the kids. Once the blank stairs started feeling awkward I went out side and offered the dogs each an apple. This went a little better. Then I had an idea. Quite an accomplishment for me some might say. Anyway, I tied an apple to a string and hung it from the roof of the chickens run. Just up high enough so they would have to jump to touch it. It would swing around and they would jump and peck and everyone seemed to have a good time. The chickens jumping, me watching the chickens, and the dogs and kids watching me.
All this for a dollar. Pretty smart after all huh?
Dan.

Yeah, chicken tetherball is fun to watch!

If the kids won't eat apples, slice the apples, and put a bit of cinnamon on them.

I should do that more often with my chickens. Maybe they'll get their butts off the ground and do something active for once.

By the way, very good use of a dollar.

Heh, we have 5 apple trees on the property (yard used to be part of an orchard). I'd pay someone to pick up all the darn apples. :p The chickens sometimes peck at them but not much. I'll have to try your hanging idea!
