I want a goose that is good for laying eggs. I don't really like the chinese or african mostly because of the "knob" on their beak so any other suggestions will be appreciated.
-Thanks

My American Buff geese lay from February through May. They lay an average of 40 each season - depending on how good I am about taking the eggs away each day. Sometimes they are so desperate to go broody, they will give up eventually and go broody on one or two eggs. Once they go broody they don't lay any more - even if you take the eggs away. Geese don't lay like chickens -- they will lay an egg, two or three days go by, then they lay another egg. It is a gradual process.

Metzers hatchery has a great chart about the goose breeds and how many eggs they lay per breed. That might help too!

Miss Lydia - that is a lot of eggs!

I have heard saddleback are on the higher end of the egg laying production, as far as geese go. Is this true?
