Goose family situation

there’s this family of Canada geese at this lake I’ve been going to for months now and it’s only 3 adults and one gosling. The two are a pair but they have a single other goose with them and their gosling (gosling from last spring) why would their be 3 adults and one gosling?

Just guessing I would say the 3rd adult is the adolescent offspring from last years clutch. Just hanging out with mom and dad and new baby sibling.
