Goose is dizzy, can't walk, falls over?

it was discovered that this is not a neurological disease, though the clinical manifestations are almost analogous, it's something anonymous (to me) like neoplasia or tumour on the dorsal part of their tail, the poor thing is sometimes discharging yellowish and oily pus. it's treated locally by rubbing a lemon to the affected area after you squeeze it and oozes the pus out, and clean it
somebody pls tell me the name of the disease, so that I can further learn about it. Thank you

Although this post of yours is 8 years old, I'm curious - did you get the bottom of what caused the mystery illness? I too have recently begun noticing signs similar to neurological impairment in our older goose. I worked with disabled clients and at some point had one with acquired brain injury. The way their face looked prior to the injury then after. The same I'm noticing here around the eyes.
I found some clues while researhing. One medical article pointed toward damaged vertabrae from arthritis and inflammation, causing vertigo. I'm stil looking for a definitive answer.
In addition, the first thing I thought when you refered to a tumour on the goose's dorsal part of the tail - especially the 'oily pus' if squished, it sounds like the preening gland which fits that description. So if you are still having animals, was the tumour near or next to the preening gland?
Hope you got anwers or a quick cure.

Did any of you wobbly goose owners get any answers? Same situation here. going on 5 days, no walk at all. Can't support herself at all. I'm thinking she got into some bee killer poison that was recently sprayed. She has also been getting into the insulation under 2 cabins, which apparently is VERY toxic. Don't know if she is eating it or just destroying it, but probably ingesting some of it. Dosing her on Vitamins, especially C & B, Vinegar in the water, sleeping inside, "physical therapy", exercise and massage.... No improvement. Seems to be neurological for sure. At what point do we ... pull the plug... ? oh also, she seems to have no voice ... for the time being, at least.

Responding to your post from almost 5 years ago... so far I have not found a definitive answer. One of our older geese is showing neuro impaired behaviour/symptoms. Except our goose can walk. Like he's been down at the tavern with the boys and still feeling anebriated.
I read it could be progressive inflammation from arthritis causing a kind of vertigo. I wonder if a branch concussed him but there is no lump. I'll keep researching until I find the right ailment and treat him if I can with tissue salts (aka cell salts) and homeopathic remedy. We use it on our animals with success. Especially silica for infections.
About a few months ago I had a poisoning case in one of our ducks. While I was hosing out their enclosure she attempted to fossick in a barracaded area that had green algae. I prevented her and noted her appearance, but I was unaware that metres away under some large tufts of heath grass, was another growth of green algae.
I found her later that night with her legs stiff out behind her, looking woozy and feeling quite hot. Cyanobacteria poisoning is quite serious and she was severely poisoned, trying to shake her head as she couldn't vomit.
I examined her, took her to the food shed and stuck her in a straw filled trolley then googled symptoms of cyanobacteria poisoning, treatment, etc. The only safe way to treat her without her aspirating was by oral drops via needleless syringe while her beak was parallel to the ground.
She had 3 small doses of the homeopathic mixture I made then wouldn't take anymore. I tried gently to see if her stiff straight legs would bend but they would not. I left her set up in the trolley to finish other work. 45mins later I returned to check on her after the remedy had been given. The duck was standing up and out of the trolley but staggering. As she wouldn't take anymore remedy, I left her alone with the remainder of remedy, bowl of peas with tissue salts and water.
Next morning I found a new duck. As though none of it had occurred.
The natural remedies are fast acting and have saved lives a few times here. Paralysis is what was taking place when the duck had her legs stiff out behind her.
Paralysis maybe occurring in our goose.
If I find a reasonable resource listing these types of strange ailments, I will post it for everyone. If any remedy attempt fixes the goose, I will let this forum know what works for our goose.
