Hi everyone! I’m here for some advice.
I have a Dewlap Toulouse goose(grey) who is turning 2cyears at the end of this month, and she still hasn’t laid one egg. Our production Toulouse geese have been laying for almost a month this year already, and full season last year, so I’m getting concerned about her egg production abilities and behavior.
She doesn’t get along with our other two geese, so we got her a gander, just for herself (buff). When those two are out together, they terrorize everyone in the yard—from the chickens to the LGD—and even scaring my mom away. I also saw the goose “covering” the gander in the pool.
We switched out the ganders for a day, but it caused so much drama that we had to put them back with their original groups. Interestingly, during that day, the troublemaker goose was calm and peaceful.
I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with her. Is she infertile? Are her hormones acting up? We’ve checked her vent twice to make sure she’s actually female. Is there anything I can give her to stimulate egg production, or is she a lost cause?
Sorry for the long post, and thank you for reading to the end. I’d really appreciate any advice, insight, or shared experiences from this awesome group.
