Goose Rescue... (Need help Sexing and IDing)

they are beautiful and im glad you guys caught thema nd weren't hurt!!!!! I'm no expert but i 110% agree that that smaller one is deffinatly a canadian goose cross, as I highly doubt the immature pures look like that. I just wonder what it's crossed with.

My gander was a juvenile in the pic, he molted to almost all white by the time he was 2 yrs old, he only kept the dots on his head and the grey on the wings...... still a pretty goose(although he was the biggest pain in the butt, always charging people, biting their legs and what-not).

Kim,

The canada cross is probably legal to keep. I would say the others are girls unless they are very young.

Try contacting Jen Gordon in Charlotte. She can help you with ID and legalities.

You are a Good Egg for rescuing them!
I did get your email. I will get back to you when we get home from our trip.

Thanks everyone. I guess it's just one of those situations where we will just have to wait and see how they turn out.

We let them out of the horse stall and out onto the pond. Boy, were they happy.

I thought I'd share a few pics of them now.

Once we have some spare money, we hope to build a shelter for them, even though I doubt they'll use it or let us "escort" them to it at night. LOL They'll come within a few feet of us, if we are on the floating dock and they still in the water. They must realize they are safe on the pond.

What a good deed you've done! Rescueing those poor geese from a sad life. Now they are safe and well looken after!

I'm a little curious as to the breed of the big white one. He looks like he has chinese for sure, but the grey on his neck has me stumped.

I love the little canada cross! That is such a neat thing.

Congrats at your rescue and your new goose family!

they look right at home on your pond . My geese would love a pond like that . for now they are stuck with a kiddie pool .

I am still wandering what the canadian is crossed with

I had a couple people suggest that that Grunt, was a Canada Toulouse cross. So we'll go with that. LOL Grunt is by far the most fiesty, might be the Canada in her, I don't know. It hisses constantly at you, open-beaked threatening to bite. Call her bluff and try to pet her she changes her mind and runs. Little spitfire.

She got named Grunt, because in the horse stall where the other two would make a honking noise, she made a small grunting noise.

I was thinking that the White maybe be mixed with a Brown Chinese. If you look in the first pic and compare him to the Brown Chinese, his markings, if filled in, would resemble the stripe of a Brown Chinese.

The White was named Bragg, because it was the one to three lanes of Bragg Blvd, 6 different times and live.

Then the Brown one, was named Benny. Because she was the first we grabbed, but was she was in the car, Bragg was running around calling "ben-ny ben-ny ben-ny", which Adam thought was hilarious. So Benny was named by Bragg.
