Hi, I have a 1 year old Chinese goose, me and my girlfriend had her from 6 weeks old... We broke up, and since she left my goose makes a weird moaning sound almost constantly... Sounds like a mooo... She often goes to the door and looks for her... Am I overanalyzing her intelligence? Is there anything I can do to help her?

Thanks

I don't think you are imagining it. I have a 8 week old gosling that started to develop angel wing when his primary flight feathers started coming in. Since he and his "friends" would pick the wrap off his wings, I had to put him in the hospital kennel.

He makes similar moaning noises most of the day and sulks in the corner. The goslings that are about his age will come lay by the kennel several times a day and that is the only time he is quiet or eats.

If this is the only goose you have and a member of its flock that it was bonded to is now missing, it may be going though a bit of grieving: Geese are known to do this. Maybe if you got her a friend: Another goose or a large breed duck it may help. Otherwise, just spend a lot of time with her and give her lots of treats. As long as she keeps eating she will be okay eventually.

Sorry she and you have to go through this and I hope it gets better soon.

It's going to fade. When my Goose lost her mate she was lonely like that for a few weeks, Eventually she got over it. She now has a new mate and is currently sitting on a nest about to hatch out their babies.
