One of my Chinese geese has started walking with a stiff straight legged gait on her tip toes. She is about four years old and started walking that way on just one leg and it was intermittent then all the time. Now she has been walking the strange gait with both legs involved. it's almost as though it could be a hip problem. she can't keep up with the main flock and it seems to be getting stiffer. Just as a throw in she also started eating feathers for a couple of weeks but has stopped that now, so I was wondering if she could be vitamin deficient? Has anyone experienced this problem before? she is such a sweetie, well they all are, but I really want to help her. Can anyone help me please?

I would try some B complex tablets—crush or grate 1/2 tablet daily onto her food with a few drops of water to get it to stick. It might be an injury or arthritis, but the vitamins would be a good place to start. You can go up to Forums and scroll down to Other Poultry, and down to Geese for better advice on geese.

Thankyou for your help. I'm going to have the vet look at her and xrayed. I will definitely give her the B though. I'll post a follow up for your interest. Again, I thankyou for your suggestion.
