This is a long shot, but I figured I would post here before I take him to the farm store... Same familiar story of a really sweet young cockerel turning into a semi aggressive roo...
I have an almost 1 year old rooster needing a new home. He’s some sort of mix and has been a perfect gentleman most of the time, but has been showing aggression more than we would like. He was an accidental roo that we kept, and we keep our chickens mostly as pets, and his territorial tendencies are really putting a damper on that. I like to pet and hold my girls, but he won’t allow that anymore, though I can walk around him just fine. Because of this, I would not feel comfortable rehoming him into a backyard flock, unless you need a solid flock protector and don’t care to be extremely hands on with your chickens. The ideal home for him would probably be a place where he can do his job of being a protector, but mostly left alone. He will eat from your hand and sometimes tolerates pettingAnother downside is that he does chase dogs, so we can’t even have our own dogs in the yard with us when he’s out. This all sounds... not very attractive... but, if you have a job for him to do he will do it!
Located near Sebastopol but I’d be willing to drive him to a good home.
thanks!
