I have a gorgeous 3.5 month old pure white Silkie cockerel who needs to go to a loving home where he is appreciated & loved. I think he could possibly be show quality! (but that might just be a mothers love talking, to be honest, I don't really know) Has all the Silkie standards: 5 toes with good placement, dark skin & eyes, full crest & heavily bearded. He has a vaulted skull with a sweet face & large eyes. Great composition & proportion. Vaccinated for Mareks and extremely healthy.

"Monkey" was hatched from very high quality breeding stock (a fellow BYC-er) and raised by hand with several other Silkies of various ages. He is very tame & will eat out of your hand. Usually comes when called & very friendly. He matured quickly & is quite intelligent! Last month he developed a strong mulberry colored comb and waddles. He hasn't started crowing yet or being to aggressive, but he is all roo. He will help make some beautiful babies!
It happens to all of us...you fall in love with the perfect chick. So wonderful, and you pray she's a hen. Then a few months later--- the tell-tale signs start to appear. Dang.
I planned on keeping "Monkey" all of his life, but unfortunately the timing is really really bad. I am in a rental property while my new home is being built & my current landlord isn't too keen on me keeping so many chickens. I have about 20 now & she hates it. County guidelines prohibit roosters. I thought I would have until end of July (when I move) before I would have to determine sex, but Monkey is all roo. I don't want to have to hide him from the landlord, so I'm hoping I can find a fellow BYC who will love and appreciate this little guy, he is awesome & I want him to have the life he deserves- not end up at the butcher!
I would prefer pick up at my home in Yountville, CA (Napa County) so we can meet face to face. I am giving him away just because I don't want to discourage his adoption because of finances. There is nothing wrong with him. I don't want to ship him, but I would be willing to drive the distance to meet someone if necessary. Please help me save Monkey! I am willing to answer any questions you have, breeding pedigrees & send additional pics, etc.
I also have 2 other pure Silkie chicks (6 weeks) a partridge & a buff that I would be willing to donate with Monkey so it's worth your while to come to Napa. They're really cute & have good proportions as well, but probably more pet quality. They're still too young to tell.
