Hello .... I'm new to geese. I have a Gosling approximately 6 weeks old that I found laying in the yard unable to stand. Once I managed to fight off the Momma I brought it in out of the heat. Its drinking and eating well but seems to be paralyzed on its left side. There are no vets locally that will see the poor baby. Any advice?? Help!

They are my husbands .There were 6 hatched and this one is the only one with issues. No there's nothing it could have gotten into but the day I found this poor little thing we did have 2 Geese disappear. We have a coyote problem. So perhaps its injured.

Seems to be more of a weakness I'd say than paralyzed. He can hold his weight if I hold him centered. He cant swim as he goes in circles & has difficulty holding his head above water . Wings work and when lifted he can move is legs .He can not bare his own weight .

Okay! I'll tag @Miss Lydia because she has more experience with deficiencies. I'm thinking possibly a niacin deficiency?

But in the meantime: do you have access to b-complex vitamins? Preferably the Durvet high-level b complex from a feed store, but regular b-complex tablets from a grocery store would work as well.

So sorry .I've been unable to get online the past few days . Gosling is a bit stronger. Still can't stand or swim . He can honk now and make some noise. He kicks like crazy just can't get his feet beneath him. Thanks so much for the advice. Sharing with the husband so we can get what we need to try tk help.

It’s legs aren’t spraddled or splayed? That can be fixed by hobbling for a few days. Make sure to keep him on something that gives him traction. Old towels, rubber shelf liner.
