On Monday I hatched my first ever gosling, he/she is now 2 days old and I just want to check that he’s acting normally as this is my first time, first of all he’s a pleasure at night, I don’t hear him very often and he sleeps right next to my bed in a brooder tank, he spends his day peeping when I walk in or get him out and he’s eating and drinking and definitely pooping lol, he’s steady on his legs and very alert but he does nap a lot! Is that normal? It’s almost like he eats poops then sleeps every 30 mins or so, thank you 😊

He's a baby. All babies eat, drink, and poop a lot. All sounds normal to me. You might want to provide him with a mirror so that he has 'company' when you are not there.

Thank you, at the moment the uk is on lockdown and i can’t work so he’s got me 24/7 for the next month at least but when I do finally go back he will be with the rest of my family and at the moment I can leave the room if I need to as he’s become quite attached to his stuffed toy so as long as he has that he’s quiet lol, he was supposed to be one of two but the other egg unfortunately didn’t hatch so I will keep an eye on him and at any point I don’t think he’s thriving due to loneliness I will get him a friend.

He’s a cutie! That’s pretty normal behavior, some goslings are sleepier than others too, one of my babies last year “Tuesday” was a little night owl, her brother Helios was a big fan of sleep, he’d fall asleep the second I picked him up, the second I set him down, pretty much the only times he was conscious was when he was eating.

That’s good to know, I’ve got plenty more toys coming tomorrow for him but he’s spent most of the afternoon watch cartoons on the iPad lol

All sounds normal for your gosling. Not too much screen time though :gig

I had a lone one hatch but he got attached to my boots as he followed in the garden. I had to resort to propping them up against his brooder to keep him quiet or he constantly called

Lol he’s on the same amount of screen time as my son 🤣 it’s nice when they attach themselves to other objects tho, mines attached to a stuffed toy I made him so it frees me up when I need to pop out.
