You can ask for whatever you want, However as a buyer I wouldn't pay that much for run of the mill unknown birds I might offer $5 or 3 for $12.

They are not run of the mill unknown birds. They are Toulouse.

Well you said "non-dewlap toulouse", to anybody that knows about geese that makes them run of the mill grey colored geese a True Standard Toulouse is a much larger bird with a Dewlap. I know this makes me a goose snob but I was speaking frankly from a buyer's point of view. From a buyer's point of view, I don't know you and I have no way of knowing anything about the genetics of the goslings you are selling. I would ask if you keep any other breed of goose to rule out any "the gander jumped the fence" crosses but truly I am not going to offer much for your gosling. Good Luck to you and I truly hope you get your asking Price. Please think ahead and remember that any 1 week old goslings are going to need a heat source, 2 week olds in NY at this time of the year may also require additional heat.

Up here in MN, you would be lucky to get $8-10 for a full grown hatchery quality toulouse. Your plain old barnyard grey toulouse gosling you'd be lucky to get $3-5 each around here. Exhibition quality dewlap toulouse are another story. I've seen those goslings go up to $150 each. Good luck with your sale!

I was just going to post this topic! I have rare Cotton Patch geese with a hatch coming up soon and was trying to figure out how much to sell them for. They're from a good line. Any ideas? And I'm in California if that makes a difference.

I bought my toulouse at a swap meet at about 3 weeks old and they were 4 or 5 dollars apiece. Looking at them now,I am not sure they are "full" toulouse. But I don't care, I love them anyway.

Again speaking as a BUYER, the Cotton Patch is not a APA defined breed, The ALBC has printed an anticle on what they consider the breed charteristics to be. If I was looking to buy them I would have that article for reference. You should know that if your birds don't have the charteristics, I am going to consider your birds just a bunch of crossed mutts. (no offence meant). In fact I think you should consider your sales approach to be much like the sale of pedigreed pups or colts where you are really selling the potential based on the parents. You can have no show results or racing results for the parents. So either have the parents to display or a good set of photos clearly showing the charteristics that I will be looking for. Any sales records that show where you got them, what you paid and that they are Cotton Patch would Help (with me, anyways) you say they are from a good line? be able to offer proof. One final point really good livestock is rarely haggled over so set your price for what you really think they are worth, be firm, and be prepared not to make a sale.
