So I had 2 chickens they've been here about 4 mo. Neither one lays me any eggs. I figured it's winter, they'll come. A week ago I picked up 2 bearded belgian D'Uccle and 2 big big girls a Australorpe and a Wyandotte. A day or two later, I got 1 pink egg from one of the little belgians.

have not had any more since. It's been really rainy where I am, but they were only about 2 hours from me. The bigs were free rangers, so maybe they just aren't happy. The belgians were outside too but at another house.

I was so happy about that darn little egg. the originals - game hen and bantam welsommer have ha none, although I noticed they kicked out one of the fake eggs from the nesting box, so at least they went in there.

who knows what is going on?

TY

It can take awhile for chickens to settle in when they move to a new home. The one egg you got from the newbies may have already been in the works. When I brought new birds home it was close to 6 weeks before I got eggs from them. Hopefully you don't have to wait that long! They should start laying for you though, the break is normal.

I just figured with the original 2 it was winter and I'd get eggs when it got lighter out. but nooooo. I have freeloader chickens! They did have a photoshoot so worked off some of their room and board that way. At my house EVERYONE has a job. unless you are super old, then you are on pet social security :)

Most of my flock has not yet resumed laying from their winter break either :barnie
