I got a baby duck yesterday and like i've never raise ducks before I gave him chick starter, is that good? and I filled a small pool of water for him/her. What else do I need? he has everything like if im raising him/her as if it was chick, he has chick starter, water, heat lamp, etc.... I just want to know if im doing the right thing?

Everything sounds good so far. How old is it? Ducks shouldn't be allowed full access to water until the have thier feathering in. When they are little it is ok to let them have short swims, but make sure you dry it with a towel really well. The mother duck gives the babies oils to keep them dry so that is why you need to dry it.

You can buy non-medicated chick starter, but you have to ask for it in particular...or you could use flock raiser...also make sure the bedding stays dry, either change it a lot or put puppy pads under the bedding...

I don't let mine swim until they have a good amount of feathers, and then it's in a warm bathtub until fully feathered or it's really warm/summer...yea! Ducklings are fun!

I think you might need to watch out on how much protein the food has because I read that too much protein causes angel wing...but I have no experience with that...just what I read....thats what I 'll be doing..

Don't be posting duckling pics. I already have the bug bad enough just from a few production hens. My back can't stand digging a pond.

Do they chirp or do they have a itty bitty quack?

NEVERMIND...Don't tell me. Either way the urge will get worse.
