I went to Coastal Farm Supply today to pick up feed, I am going through 50# of chick starter a week and had to check out the chicks- they have signs all over saying it was the last week to buy chicks. I have been wanting some Speckled Sussex chicks but they never had any that would come in, even though their delivery sheets stated they would get some about every other week. Well, today they had 3 SS chicks! I sat there looking at them, wondering how my husband would react to me bringing home more chicks. I have 9 FBCM and 8 BLRW chicks that are 71/2 weeks old, 15 EE and 2 polish chicks that are 6 weeks, 8 banties that are about 4 weeks and I just hatched out 14 Polish chicks over the weekend. I figured I could slip the Sussex chicks in with the Polish.
I told the guy working I wanted 2 Sussex chicks and he gave me the 3rd chick for free since it was the last one!
Husband rolled his eyes when I told him after he came home from work. I brought them over for him to see and he grabbed a towel and held them for about 20 minutes, lol! He's such an enabler!
Coastal was also selling 2 bins of RIR for $1.25. I managed to leave without picking up a few, thank goodness!
