Got a Subpoena in the mail, 3 years after the fact...2/26 Delayed!

you may want to call the Victim/witness Assistance program (thats what we call it here) I am sure there is a similar office in USA courts or the DA's office and find out what the allowance is per night for a hotel, or if they have preferred rates at a local hotel. When I was in court I was just on the inside of the boundary of getting a hotel room, I was 20KMS short so if i lived in the next town i could have been entitled to a hotel room

I got $170 for my time and gas money. Maybe it varies by state?

I'm not on jury duty lol. They are paying my way there, putting me up for however long I have to be there, they give me $7 for breakfast, $9 for lunch, $20 for dinner and $25 per day for my time and trouble going there to testify. Hopefully it won't take long, maybe a couple of days. I'm just glad it's during my break so I don't have to get a sub for my class. I'm just hoping for justice for my former student, it's taken a long road to get this far.

ETA: I'll be talking to victim witness tomorrow, but I don't have to pay anything up front to claim except maybe food the first day. They will either fly me there or pay me .50 per mile to drive,, considering it' almost 700 miles from my home, I don't think they will want to pay me to drive lol!!

Well I was on my way to Silver City Friday afternoon and about 6pm my time I got a call in the middle-o-nowhere between Deming and Silver that the Defense has filed for a Continuance, they will let me know the 15th when the new trial date is. They needed more time to prepare,, What two and a half years wasn't enough time ???????

That is what I told the DA, during break I have time, during school I don't. At this rate maybe it will be during Summer!

I don't think it really matters. Once you've been subpoened, that's it...you gotta go to it.
