Ok here we go,I ordered 8 chicks from mypetchicken.thestandard were priced ok and I got each one for 3:50 each with vacinations and they were sexed. The bantams were a wopping $10.00 each becouse you could choose if you wanted a male or female.I got them yeterday and they added an extra 2 chicks becouse whenever you get bantams you have to get 2 extra chicks(they didnt say that in the ordering form). They came in a little box with the sides and bottom covered with hay, there was a warming pad that was still warm and cute lil chirping chicks.About 2 hours later I noticed that the bantam polish I got was limping I checked its foot and it was swollen.Hes enclosed in the brooder wiht another chick. Then I noticed that there was one that chirped very loudly all the time.I didnt think much of it and went to bed then the next morning I found it dead.I dont know what killed him but her not ordering from that hatchery again!

I had very good luck with my order of five, who arrived in great shape. Mine literally crossed the US, coming all the way to California. I'm wondering, from the way you describe the problems (other than two extra chicks) if this was the Post Awful screwing up, with someone playing basketball with the box or something. I've heard stories of things that happen behind the scenes.

I am sorry for you lost

I would guess the loud chirper was too hot or hungry/thirsty. That's what that complaining tends to mean.
For the Polish... they may have been picked on so the foot got swollen from the beak of another chicken.I would look t o see if a splinter or something is stuck in the foot.
Also, please call My Pet Chicken and tell them of your experience. Please don't write off a hatchery without first contacting them. A lot happens between the time they are packaged and arrive at your home- much of it totally out of their control.

well I made sure todunk her beak in the water and it surley wasnt that hot.I think tis probly some type of internal problem as with the polish chick she has no splinters in her foot at all but shes still doing well.
