Got locked in the coop for 2 hours. Any suggestions?

Wow, mine is not self locking so this isn't really an issue. Couldn't you have wiggled out the pop door? That's what I'd have done if locked in my coop. Of course my coop bigger, something like 10"x14"

I could never have wiggled out of the door. I am not big but the little door is like the size a bantam would use. The coop was here from the previous owner. He had turkeys, geese, ducks, pheasant, chickens and all of the different types of poultry. The door is just big enough for my hens. My little 6 yr. old brother fits through it though!

I am looking for a used door with a doorknob on it to use when I build my coop. I definately won't be building anything that I can get locked in with.

I have to say I've done this too and I had my cell phone. My wife didn't answer when I called and the kids were in the house, but I wasn't completely done building. I had a drill and drill bit- and a nice piece of ceiling wire that I had bent into a makeshift paint stirrir. I have a gate style latch that you can only open from one side--until now- I have a string tied to it and into the coop so that this doesn't happen again. Luckily I'm very handy and it only took me a few minutes to break out. I used my drill as a pair of plyers to bend the wire into a small hook that would fit through the 1/4" hole I drilled. Like the saying "If they call you handsome, at least they can call you handy"...
