Got my birds back & they are laying!

I got my first cochin egg today!

Yippee!!!! I have some young Cochins. Gotta love those feathered feet. My dad just bought 7 hens and a roo and I am trying to convince him to let me have a few of their eggs to hatch while I wait for my own to grow up.

Yeah...a lady I sold some of my birds to like in MARCH, heard through the small town "grapevine" that I'd lost my entire flock. She called me up last week and offered to GIVE me back some of my birds! I tried to pay her and she wouldn't take it. She said she wants chicks next year outta mine!

So I now have a small flock again & a cochin hen laid an egg!

I just went out and we got our 1st egg from one of the Gold Laced Cochin hens my Dad bought on Sunday Yippee!!! Now if all 7 will lay an egg. I know we have to give them some time. I convinced him to let me put it in the bator.

even though he told me to keep my hands off his birds. But really it's a family affair and we all share. Some are mine, some are mom's, and some are dad's.

Cool! Unfortunately, mine haven't been the greatest of layers, at least not as good as my brahmas....

I'm just hoping they are better than my BB Game Bantam. She lays maybe once a week. But I'm sure the crazy weather changes may be affecting it also.

I know!!! I offered to pay, but she declined. She did keep some of my birds, though...but gave me back a few so I'd have eggs again!

Now, if it would STOP being 94 degrees out or SNOWING, I'd have it made! LOL
