Don't know which female it is from, I have a Black Swedish and a Cayuga. I have not seen the boys and girls "doing" anything. So should I assume it's not fertile? I want duck babies so will need some more research and help there. At least she laid it in the duck nesting box.
I think I read that Cayuga could lay an egg like that. Congrats! I've also read that the first few eggs aren't necessarily fertile. Plus I want to say those early eggs are more likely to be double yolks, which can't hatch, even if fertile. So yes, I'd wait awhile.
Unless you want to save the shell by blowing the egg, cracked it open and look for the bullseye. Once you start seeing bullseyes, you can assume the rest of the eggs laid will be fertile.
I think we going to blow this one out and keep it. But I'll crack the next one and see about bullseyes. Which I don't quite know what you mean but will do some research.
