After several months of waiting and waiting, our chicks finally arrived yesterday! It was so exciting! First timer here :)
I actually called the post office twice to see if they were in. They are here at last, all healthy, thus far, fluffy and cute as getup…8 Buckeyes and 7 Easter Eggers. Watch out chicken world, here we come! :)

Yay, thats so exciting!! Congrats, you're in for a fun, exciting, and addicting new hobby!

I've never had any Buckeye's, but I just love my Easter Eggers. Is there a reason you chose those two breeds? When we got our first chicks last spring, I knew nothing of chickens, and literally went in the farm supply store and told the guy to just give me five chicks. He gave me five Barred Rocks. I'm so glad he did, they have been wonderful teachers for us. Basically though, all chicken breeds are amazing. We now have around ten different breeds. They're like jellybeans though, I must try them all!

Cluck, I was drawn to the Buckeye breed solely because of their history. Pretty amazing! Love it! Let me know what you think after reading it :)
Ten breeds? Wow! That seems like a lot to a beginner like myself :) I am sure I am going to have my hands full with these 15 chicks, well, and 4 ducklings, 3 horses, soon to come 2 piglets, some bees, and who knows what else…Where in the world is Spring????? (I am in Michigan)

Oh I'm so jelly that you have bees! We would like to get bees eventually, but I'll need to do more research. I love the idea of fresh honey, but hate the idea of getting stung by a bajillion bees (the classic conundrum of a wannabe bee keeper I suppose haha). We only have 2-4 of every breed though, only 32 in total. Thats cool that the Buckeye was developed by a woman! I might just have to order a couple to add to my flock.

Cluck,
I do not have the bees yet. They are coming soon. I am jazzed. But trust me, whenever I am near them, I will be wearing those biohazard-protective look-a-like suits :)
