One of my hens tried to lay her first wgg last week and it seemed to be too big and she got egg bound and had a vent prolapse. I took her to a vet for them to remove the egg and out a purse suture in place to hold her prolapse in. She has been having a rough couple days and i have notice some sort of discolored thick possibly soft egg shell was stuck all over her prolapse… i have been cleaning her in a bath every day trying to remove as much of what i think is egg shell the vet did not remove all the way but i notice something else lodged inside of her vent as well that came out of the side. I have no idea what it is but posted a picture.e Does anyone have any ideas before i decide to put this poor girl out of her misery…

Welcome to BYC. Glad that you could see the vet. Those flesh colored things are lash egg material, a product of inflammation of the oviduct (salpingitis.) It is unfortunate she has this just laying her first egg. If I were you, I would start some antibiotics, such as amoxicillin or Baytril, to treat her for this. If treated early it might extend her life. Can you get that from your vet? You will need to discard any eggs for at least 3 weeks afterward. Here is a good article about salpingitis:
