grass clippings for rabbits

You have to be very careful feeding grass because there is a chance of a pesticide/insecticide/fertilizer residue on clippings...Besides most types of grass used for yard grass has very little nutritional value...Hay type grass has large leaves yard grass has mostly blades..properly stored hay is far better than grass clippings....

And unless the grass is properly dried, you run a high risk of mold which can be deadly. Hay is a better choice.

no pesticide here

and what is hay?
i thought it was basically grass

Grass and hay are the same things just reaped at different stages. My Rabbits don't like grass much, at least not with out seed stalks. To answer your question though, once your grass is dried make some baskets with 1" chicken wire and put it in there then get the grass out of the weather.

Actually this is not the case. Yard grasses and plants used for hay are very different ex.- alfalfa, Timothy, clover ....you can buy "orchard grass" which is really just overgrown yard/field grass

True if you are talking Alfalfa or Timothy. But many of us with goats and donkeys feed fescue hay. When I go to buy seed for the pastures I get Kentucky long fescue and I use the same for our yard grass. Like you said Hay comes in different varieties. Fescue being one of those varieties.
