Grasshoppers Are The Ultimate Treat

I went to the local bait shop this morning and bought 2 tubes of crickets. Them things cost me almost 10 bucks. Watching the flocks go crazy for them was priceless though. It was worth every dime.

I'm seeing a YouTube moment coming soon. I just need to figure out how to stage it.

Earwigs! It's chicken frenzy when I uncover some of those. Also, I "farm & harvest" earwigs by rolling up a thin section of newspaper and leaving it outside in the raised gardens every night or so, then un-rolling it in front of the chickens the following morning.

Non-bug treats: Grapes. You'd never know they aren't bugs with their own legs, because they roll and then the chickens play rugby with 'em, keep-away, and shriek and squawk and jump all over each other for 'em.

My girls go crazy for centipedes. Takes them a good 5 minutes of fighting before one gets to eat it though. haha!

Peanuts, walnuts and pecans...the only treat they dare to steal from my hand without my hand being in the offerring position...if you have chickens you know what I mean....they just don't wait!

We don't have many bugs in Northern Nevada but when my gals find a grasshopper - WOWEE!!

The one that catches it has to run from the others who are chasing her to get the darn thing out of her mouth!

I agree with the T. Rex observation - In fact, if I had an extra chicken that was unnamed I would probably name it Rex!
