Hi everyone. I’m new to the backyard chicken. I was wondering if anyone has seen this before. At first I thought something died under my coop and couldn’t find anything thougt maybe something got stuck in the walls of the coop. Went on for about probably a month, stench still strong I figured if something was dead up in the walls of the coop it would of passed but then I found that the smell is coming from this horrible green algae that’s taking over my chicken coop run. I have had so much rain and humidity for a while. Nothing is drying out. I would like to get something to spray and kill it but not sure what to use. I’m hoping that some one has seen this before
Thank you

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Is it flooded that it's so wet to grow algae? If so I would dig some drainage ditches to channel off the water. I don't think you can kill it off unless you dry it out. You might post this question in our Coop and Run Construction forums for more help... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/coop-run-design-construction-maintenance.9/

Good luck and welcome to our community!
The outer run is under some trees. The area catches some sun. It has been so humid I’m hoping the humidity will break to dry it out. I’m not sure if it will die off it looks so green.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

If possible you need to put a solid roof over the run and do everything you can to divert any water that flows into the run away from the it. The dryer the better. You can try turning over the soil then covering the area with a layer of wood chips. But it would need to stay dry. So deal with the water issue first.
